Best 8 Days Desert Tour from Casablanca

Arrive in the Mohamed V International Aiport or pick up from accommodation in Casablanca before driving to the city center where we will make a visit to the dramatic Hassan II Mosque. It is the third-largest mosque in the world with its minaret that dominates the horizons of the city.

Have a nice drive by the paved Corniche of Ain Diab before driving to Rabat, which is the administrative capital of Morocco. Have a tour of this unique city from the dramatic Uddayas Kasbah that goes back to the 12th century, visit the Mohammed V Mausoleum, Hassan Tower before driving north across the fertile plain of Gharb.

Get to Chefchaouen in the late afternoon, the blue city is small, so it can be easily navigated. Visit the Kasbah and get lost in the beautifully painted streets before getting to the Ras el-Ma Spring. Later, you may want to have a drink in the bustling Utta el-Hammam Square with its lined cafes and restaurant before spending your first night in a comfortable Riad/hotel.

After breakfast, we will head south to the Fes while driving through the spectacular Rif Mountains before arriving in the Roman Ruins of Volubilis where we will have a guided walking tour offering an opportunity to learn about the Roman Civilisation.

Continue on the track further south to the 17th century and imperial city of Meknes. Enjoy the cultural tour of the city from the impressive Bab (Gate) Mansour with its intricate geometric designs, visit the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum before making a tour around the royal granaries and stables where the Sultan Moulay Ismail used to look after his 12.000 horses.

In the late afternoon, we will head to Fes through the highway.

After breakfast, our 8 days desert tour from Casablanca will lead us to the Sahara desert of Merzouga with a nice drive through the spectacular Atlas Mountains. Take pictures of the panoramic plam Ziz Valley before reaching the majestic Merzouga desert.

Go on a camel ride experience while enjoying the breathtaking views of the sunset. Climb the sand dune and spend the time watching the sunset across the golden sand dune field. Later, get to the luxury desert camp where you will be served dinner followed by a session of music. 

You may want to stretch your legs stargazing before culminating the day with a relaxing sleep in your private and ensuite tent.

Early wake up in the morning, attend the miraculous view of the sunrise, then have a refreshing lunch under the sunlight or inside the tented restaurant. After taking a shower, we will continue on the track west passing by the city of Erfoud, which is known for fossils and dates.

Cross the palm oasis of Tinejdad, then stretch your legs in the impressive Todra Gorge with its high cliff that keeps attracting mountain climbers from all over the world. Later, we will head to the Dades Valley where we will spend our fifth night in a comfortable Riad/hotel.

After breakfast, we will resume our 8 days desert tour from Casablanca to Marrakech passing by the lush valley of roses where we may want to include a visit to a local cooperative to learn about the process of turning roses into rose water, perfumes, soaps, lotions, and much more.

Drive through Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) with the option to make a visit to the Atlas Film Studios that has turned the region into a backdrop attracting filmmakers from all over the globe. Some of the films that were shot in the region are Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia, and much more.

Have a guided walking tour around the dramatic and UNESCO listed as world heritage site Ksar (Village) Ait Benhaddou. This striking piece of architecture was an important commercial center in the former caravan route that used connect Marrakech with the Sahara.

After lunch, we will cross the Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) before getting to Marrakech in the evening.

Today, we will spend the day exploring what Marrakech has to offer with a local tour guide whose knowledge about the city is outstanding. Pick up from your hotel/Riad, then drive through the Ville Nouvelle that was built by the French when Morocco was a Proctorate from 1912 to 1956.

Enjoy a visit to the botanical gardens of Majorelle that are owned by Saint Laurent and was founded by Jacques Majorelle who settled in Marrakech and made his dream true by spending most of his life collecting plants from all over the world to come up with a rare oasis on earth.

Have a cultural walking tour of Marrakech from the dramatic La Koutoubia Mosque that goes back to the 12th century. Visit the 15 century Saadian Tombs, the 19th century Bahia Palace, Sidi Said Museum, the bustling Souks before ending the tour in the Jemaa el-Fna Square that turns into a carnival in the evening.
