4 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech

After breakfast in your hotel/Riad, your private driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel/Riad in Fes at around 07:30 am before heading south to the majestic Sahara desert of Merzouga. We will initially include a short break in the beautiful city of Ifrane, which is called the pseudo-Switzerland version city of Morocco thanks to its unique style of architecture.

Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains with its UNESCO preserved cedar forests that host a colony of “Barbary Macaques”. After lunch, which will be near Midelt, we will cross the spectacular high Atlas Mountains, then take pictures of the panoramic palm Ziz Valley before arriving in the desert where you will spend the first night in an authentic Riad/hotel by the feet of the sand dunes.

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad in the majestic Sahara desert, you will devote most of the day to explore the most interesting attraction of the desert area. Learn about the local “Khettaras”, which is a sophisticated system of irrigation that consists of conveying water from afar to irrigate the palm oasis (we will stretch your legs inside the oasis to form an idea about the local crops).

Later, we will drive through Merzouga centre before getting to the authentic Khamlia Village that is predominantly resided by black Africans who were brought as slaves. They are famous for the spiritual “Gnawa Music” that they tend to perform to their visitors. After that we will have a complete tour around the miraculous sand dune field of Erg Chebbi while including many short breaks for taking pictures.

Visit the local M’Fis mines that are still in operation to this day, then share a cup of tea with a local nomad family offering a rare opportunity to learn about their unique style of life. After lunch, we will head back to our Riad/hotel by the sand dunes to chill out before going on a camel ride experience. The sunset view is just magical.

Enjoy a delicious meal for dinner in our romantic luxury desert camp followed by a session of music before culminating the day with a relaxing sleep in your private ensuite tent. 

Early wake up in the morning, the activity is to attend the miraculous view of the sunrise, then have a refreshing breakfast followed by a shower before getting ready for resuming our adventurous 4 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech.

Make a visit to the city of Erfoud, which is the capital of dates and fossils. After driving through the palm oasis of Tinejdad, we will stretch our legs in the impressive Todra Gorge. This high cliff keeps attracting mountain climbers and trekkers from all over the world.

After lunch, we will continue on the track to the lush Dades Valley where we will spend our third night in an authentic but comfortable Riad/hotel.

After breakfast, we will head further west to Marrakech by including a visit to a local cooperative in the Valley of Roses where we will learn about the different products that are made from extracting roses like rose-water, perfumes, soaps, lotions, and much more.

Drive through the city of Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) with the possibility to make a visit to the famous Atlas Film Studios. Theses studios have turned the region into an international backdrop for shooting a big number of Hollywood Movies like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia, and many others.

Later, we will have a guided walking tour around the dramatic and UNESCO listed Ksar (Village) of Ait Benhaddou. After lunch, we will drive across the spectacular High-Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260) offering panoramic views before getting to Marrakech in the evening.
